Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are hit by a global breakdown Facebook-owned assets, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, were frozen on Monday. Problems began around 11:45, according to the EDDE detector, and are hitting users globally. Shortly after noon, Facebook’s site returned a message saying, “This site cannot be reached.” A representative for Facebook did not immediately respond to a post. Twitter users were quickly trending on the platform in response to the shutdown of “#instagram down” and “#facebookdown”. Shares of Facebook are down about 5 percent as Big Tech stock has already had a tough day.
